Purchase tickets by March 31st and be eligible for the Early Bird Draw Prize! Prize is a luxurious limousine round trip ride,
accomodating 8-10 people, full red carpet services provided by Trinity Taxi and Limousine Services. Draw will take place April 1st, winner to be announced at that time.

Awards Presentation & Criteria

Customer Service Award

Celebrating the best in customer service, customer retention and customer relationship management. The award will go to the company that can demonstrate that it is truly “customer-focused”.

Friend of the Environment Award

The Friend of the Environment award recognizes a business that displays environmental responsibility. Processes include businesses that encourage and implement procedures to reduce power consumption, promote recycling, encourage the sustainable use of renewable resources and/or the protection of environmentally sensitive areas.

Entrepreneurial Excellence Award

Recognizing a business that shows achievement in some or all of the following: new or innovative product or service, or manufacturing technique, job creation, growth potential and market served.

The Design Improvement Award

The Design Improvement Award recognizes the business or organization in the community that demonstrates the greatest contribution to the commercial viability of the community through construction, renovation or development.

Friend of Youth Award

The Friend of Youth Award will be given to the company that demonstrates the best commitment to preparing youth for the workforce. Involvement in school to work transition programs such as career talks, career fairs, workplace tours, cooperative education, mentoring and project based learning must be established.

Tourism Excellence Award

The nominees will be judged on demonstrated commitment to excellence in attracting tourists to the City of Kawartha Lakes and will include consideration of customer service, staff knowledge, signage marketing and promoting of features, festivals or events that attract visitors to the area.

Retail Excellence Award

Nominees will be judged based on their business being a franchise or chain retail establishment and will be judged on a demonstrated commitment to innovation, excellence in retail and will demonstrate staff knowledge in consideration of merchandising, store design, demonstrated customer service and marketing and promotion.

Restaurant Excellence Award

Recognizing a restaurant of any size that has shown a high level of business service in the food & beverage sector. Nominees will be judged based on their customer service, quality of food, and the restaurant atmosphere.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Celebrating an entrepreneur under the age of 35, nominees will be judged on their company’s success and growth potential, innovation, participation in new economy activities and community involvement.

Excellence in Volunteer Leadership Award

Recognizing an organization in the City of Kawartha Lakes who continually shows excellence in the following areas: volunteer training, screening, recognition, risk management and crisis management. Nominations must include information regarding their accomplishments in these areas. This award will be broken down into 2 categories—organizations with 50 or less volunteers and organizations with 50+ volunteers.

Employer of the Year Award

Recognizing an organization or business in the City of Kawartha Lakes who continually provides a positive work environment to their employees. Areas of recognition include innovative ways the employer supports employees, growth and development strategies, positive workplace culture that encourages employees to be respected and engaged, workplace culture that reflects the importance of work/life balance and all examples of what makes your employer exceptional. Employees are encouraged to nominate their employer!

Citizen of the Year

This prestigious award is given annually to a resident (or honorary resident) of Lindsay and area 18 years of age or older who has contributed to the community in a manner above and beyond the limits of the candidates normal job or occupation. The contribution of the candidate should be of a volunteer nature outside of normal occupation expectations and nominations will be judged on total benefit to the community. Please include special efforts made by the nominee and the effect that their efforts have had on the community. The following criteria is considered: Consideration is given to the individual who has demonstrated a lasting and meaningful volunteer contribution to the community above and beyond the limits of the candidate’s job or occupation. The nominee’s activities will have demonstrated pride in the community, and been giving in nature, with no expectation in return. Efforts of their service should demonstrate an effect on the well being of the community as a whole. The nominee will have shown a commitment to various activities within the community and exhibited themselves as a leader in the community as a whole.

Business Leader of the Year

This award recognizes and honours a business person that has been a leader in moving Lindsay and the surrounding area forward and has been responsible for improvements to the community. Selection criteria includes visionary leadership, quality workmanship, professional mannerism and exemplary customer service to the business and community. The following criteria is considered: Candidate’s length of time in their current capacity and previous business endeavours. Leadership and team spirit will be evident within his/her business.

Visionary leadership, with a demonstrated effort towards building a business culture within the community.

  • Leadership within the business community and demonstrated pride in our community.
  • Success of this business and it’s affect on the business community.
  • The nominee’s demonstrated volunteer service to the community.
  • Commitment to various activities within the community Positive affect by the nominee’s volunteer activities.

Not-For-Profit Excellence Award

In recognition of a Not-For-Profit organization in the City of Kawartha Lakes that demonstrates excellence in board governance (through strong leadership abilities, strategic planning, strategic partnerships and alliances), effective volunteer management, fundraising initiatives, successful marketing and promotion initiatives and effective program development. The following criteria is considered:

  • Purpose and mission of the organization
  • Length of time organization has been operating
  • Board governance through strong leadership abilities
  • Strategic Planning that ensure that planning process are in place, with demonstrated strategic partnerships and alliances
  • Effective Volunteer management including identification of level or risk, police checks, reference checks, interviews, frequency of re-screening of volunteers, storage of records
  • Fundraising initiatives that include successful marketing and promotion initiatives
  • Effective program development
