The Kawartha Young Professionals aim to provide an environment for young professionals and entrepreneurs to network, socialize and expand their professional horizons. They do this in association with the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce.

May, 2006

  • The next monthly dinner is on Monday, June 5th, 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Bonfire with Greg Walling as the guest speaker.  The monthly dinners are intended to provide KYP with a foundation as a networking group by establishing a regular pattern of getting together.
  • Congratulations to KYP member, Adam Hayward, who was named the first-ever "Young Entrepreneur of the Year" by the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce.  Adam is the owner of Nesbitt Meat Market.
  • A golf and BBQ event is being planned for June 11th at Deer Run Golf Club.  The cost of the day is only $25!  Email KYP to reserve your spot.

February, 2006

  • The membership is growing in the Kawartha Young Professionals as more and more people learn about the new group
  • Committees are being formed to look at events, membership and sponsorship opportunities
  • Monthly dinner meetings are being planned to give members an opportunity to introduce themselves, network and to hear from a speaker of interest; most recently M.P. Barry Devolin addressed the group
  • Coming up is a wine tasting event on Saturday, April 22nd where a wine consultant will educate the group on wines and pairing with food
  • A website is up and running and a logo is being developed
  • Several joint KYP/Chamber initiatives are being planned for 2006

 


 

November, 2005

  • Inaugural event was held October 17th with good attendance and interest from young professionals and entrepreneurs
  • Members of the group have volunteered for various committees including Events, Communication and Sponsorship
  • Ideas for future networking events have been submitted
  • The Chamber will continue to help as the umbrella organization under which the group will operate – some chamber events will be joint events with the KYP and vice versa
  • A member of KYP will attend the Programs & Events Committee of the chamber to stay in touch and a member of the chamber will attend KYP executive committee meetings
  • Website is being developed and a logo competition has been launched
