The KLACC is an association of Chambers of Commerce within the Kawartha Lakes region dedicated to the mutual development of business enterprise and to inform, lead, educate, partner and promote sustainable growth for the benefit of all. The members of the KLACC are:

Debbie reported that a motion was made to decline renewal of the TOD highway signs.

The Business Social will be held in Lindsay again this year on Thursday, June 1st at the Lilac Gardens of Lindsay. Admission will be $5.00.

The Summer Social will be hosted by Fenelon Falls and will be held probably the 3rd week of August – date to be confirmed.

Silent Auction items will be required by all Chambers so Lindsay will be trying to get at least 5 items.

There is a committee looking at the Simply Summer Survey and its questions.

Lindsay has requested that the survey questions be relooked at to include summer events information.

The Strategic Planning session has been postponed until early 2007 but a one-day retreat will be held in September for a full discussion session.
March 2006

Fenelon Falls and Lindsay switching the Summer Social vs. the Business Social. Fenelon does not have the facilities nor the staffing to properly handle the Business Social and Lindsay is without a boat locally to host the Summer cruise. It was agreed that we would switch and more information will follow with respect to dates and locations etc.

The KLACC 2006 budget was finalized and a small surplus of $579 is projected for the year.

The KLACC 2005 annual report will soon be finalized and sent to members of all four chambers.

The Joint Membership Proposal has been presented to the Eastern Region board, the Fenelon Falls board and the Lindsay board.

Lindsay is the only Chamber to have approved the proposal in principal. Bobcaygeon did not present it to their board.

Jointmembership willbe deferred to the next KLACC Strategic Planning session, which is currently not scheduled.

Al Robinson reported that the new owners of the Beaver Trailer Park are agreeable to provide the facilities to hold the trade show.

It was suggested that a Strategic Planning session move forward in the early fall.

New business: The KLACC will contact our local provincial politicians to see if funding is available to keep the Tod Signs on the highways around our chamber.
January 2006
Gerry reported that two meetings have been held since his last report. One was held on December 8, 2005 and again on January 19, 2006. During the meeting of December 8, 2005 the KLACC held its AGM and all member Chambers were well represented in Lakefield Ontario. Aside from normal business the following was accomplished:

A by-law amendment was passed to allow Chamber staff and/or members at large to participate on the KLACC board. Scott Papp was elected Chair, Al Robinson was elected Vice-Chair & Gerry McKeown was elected Treasurer.

Since the KLACC does not recognize the past chair position, Amy Terrill has completed her term on the Board and was thanked for all her hard work and dedication to the KLACC. Amy was given a gift from the board at today’s meeting.

At our next meeting (February 23rd in Bobcaygeon) a strategic planning session will be added to the agenda.

Looked at Draft 1 of the 2006 KLACC budget – amendments will be made and looked at the next meeting.

Discussion about attendance at KLACC meetings took place – with suggestions of moving the meetings around from one chamber area to another, and allowing members at large to sit as a director from each chamber, in addition to board and staff members – this will require bylaw change at the AGM if it is to proceed

Absence of marketing plan discussed, making decisions on publications difficult

Report on Kawarthfest, a group of event organizers that the individual chambers were encouraged to join – attempts will be made to attend a future Kawarthfest meeting
