Committees



The Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce is shaped by our members. Through the following committees, volunteers help determine the direction of the Chamber. Here is a list of the committees within the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce:

Board of Directors 
The Board of Directors meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month, excluding July and August. The Executive Committee meets the 1st Wednesday of each month.

Advocacy Committee

The Advocacy Committee has been formed to help the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce act on its role as the “voice of business” in the Lindsay area.  The committee considers issues that are raised by the membership through committee members, Directors or staff. 

Some of the committee’s duties may include:

 $       To monitor the municipal structure, discuss and recommend

$       To develop a forum for members to raise concerns

$       Receive requests for chamber advocacy, review and make recommendations to the Board of Directors

$       Develop Chamber positions where appropriate

$       Communicate Chamber positions where appropriate

Committee meetings take place the 2nd Wednesday of each month, with a break in July and August.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for providing leadership in the areas of membership development and service delivery to our members.  This continues to be a priority of the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce.

 Some of the committee’s duties may include:

$       Examine strategies for member recruitment

$       Research member to member discount programs

$       Explore new member benefits

$       Monitor directory project(s), make recommendations to the Board

$       Receive processed membership applications, make recommendations to the Board

The Membership Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.

Programs & Events Committee
The Programs & Events Committee is responsible for providing leadership in the areas of developing and planning relevant programs and networking opportunities for our members.  Networking is considered one of the key reasons why businesses join the Chamber of Commerce

Some of the committee’s duties may include:

$       Enhance existing events in format, attendance and profile

$       Review policy decisions regarding events as per schedule

$       Develop a tentative schedule and theme for ‘featured speaker events’

$       Monitor the success of existing programs and evaluate for opportunities of improvement

$       Explore new programs and events

$       Make recommendation to the Board for new programs or changes to existing programs

The Programs and Events Committee meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
