Classics is Back

For Release June, 2007

Lindsay: Several of the most popular events of Classics on Kent will return in the 2007 line up of events. Saturday, July 14th classic cars and hotrods will parade down Kent Street while heading to a giant car cruise at A &W. This is one of the highlights of the Classics on Kent 2006.

“The parade and cruise at A&W was one of the highlights of previous car shows” says Classics on Kent Chair Don Lutes “Last year there were so many classic cars that joined in the parade last year tat at one point cars were going in both directions on Kent Street. It was a real treat for spectators who stopped to watch.”

Cars will gather at the Rona Cashway on Harvest Road leaving at 7 p.m. to parade East on Kent Street to Lindsay Street before circling around to return to the A & W parking lot for a giant car cruise.

Earlier in the day car owners of all kinds are invited to participate in a self guided tour of Lindsay and the City of Kawartha Lakes. Tour information is available from the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce.

The main attraction for the weekend is the Classics on Kent Car Show scheduled for Sunday, July 15. Over 400 classic cars will line the Kent Street. Spectators will be able to participate in the People’s Choice selection of favourite cars. Another popular attraction is the Brits in the Park. Over 200 British sports cars will be on display in Victoria Park.

Classics on Kent welcome the Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary as the Charity Partner for this years car show. The Auxiliary will be participating in 50/50 draws and other fundraising endeavours. “We are pleased to welcome the Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary to the Classics on Kent and to provide them an opportunity to build on their ongoing fundraising successes for the hospital” states Lutes. The Auxiliary’s current fundraising project is for dialysis equipment.
