New Chamber President is Announced

LINDSAY – Lindsay: The Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce is under the direction of a new President.

At a recent meeting of its newly elected Board of Directors, the President was named as Gerry McKeown. Gerry is a consultant with Colonial Concepts Log Homes and has been actively involved with the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce. He has been on the Board of Directors since 2002 and for the last two years has held the 1st Vice President position. His background includes 35 years with The Bank of Nova Scotia, where he retired in May of 2001 as an Assistant General Manager of the Bank. He was a Corporate Director for Asset Inc. in Toronto, and has served on the Board of Directors for Flemingdon Community Legal Services for over 20 years. He currently is involved with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and sits on their Finance & Taxation Committee, bringing a voice from the Lindsay & surrounding area to the table. Gerry is familiar with Lindsay and the area, as he has cottaged and lived here for many years.

This Chamber has a proud history of service to its community. It is indeed with great pride that I serve as its new President, and I will be following a distinguished list of predecessors. As the voice of business the Chamber will continue to advocate in favour of growth and development in Lindsay and the surrounding community."

Gerry McKeown replaces Val Harris of Investors Group who will move into the Past President Position. Rounding out the executive is Mike Puffer, who is with Community Care for the City of Kawartha Lakes and Patrick Proulx, owner of the A & W Restaurant in Lindsay. Both are Vice Presidents with the Chamber. Jordan Bress, a Senior Account Manager Business/Personal with the Royal Bank of Canada was elected as Treasurer.

The Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce represents more than 600 businesses in Lindsay and the surrounding communities and is a member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
