Workforce Development Board is a not-for-profit organization located in Peterborough and serving Northumberland, Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton. Founded in 1996, WDB is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development to provide labour market information, coordinate employment and training services, and engage employer communities.The Workforce Development Board customer service charter sets out their commitment to provide the best customer service. The Workforce Development Board will be the acknowledged provider of local workforce information and champion of workforce development initiatives unique to the regions they serve. They provide quality, consistent information, support, advice and assistance to develop a competitive, innovate and create a skilled workforce. They make sure to follow customer service principles such as responsiveness, quality service, confidentiality, transparency and professionalism at all times. The Canada-Ontario Job Grant provides direct financial support for employers to purchase training that will help them build workforce capacity to improve performance and ensure ongoing growth and success. Employers choose the workers and the training. The cost of the training is a shared investment between the employer and the Federal and Provincial Governments, where the government contributes up to $10,000 per employee.
