LINDSAY SANTA CLAUS PARADE – Winners Announced
LINDSAY – Super Heroes and floats depicting many different Christmas and Community Heroes filled the streets of Lindsay as the Lindsay Santa Claus Parade took place on Sunday November 16th. The parade sponsored mainly by Giant Tiger, made its way through downtown Lindsay and as each float passed the children’s anticipation grew for the arrival of Old Saint Nick himself.
The parade wouldn’t be complete without the community participation it receives each year. Many volunteers work tirelessly to make sure that floats are decorated, bands are marching, and candies and gifts are given out along the parade route, all to welcome Santa Claus to town. The Lindsay and District Chamber of Commerce makes an effort to recognize this by judging float entries, presenting the winners with ribbons and announcing them during the live television broadcast on TV COGECO. Winners are as follows:
Commerce & Industry:
1. Commonwell Insurance Group partnered with the K9 Unit & Paramedic Services
(Super Heroes of the Community!)
2. Kawartha Animal Hospital
3. Collins Barrow Chartered Accounts
Non Profit Organization:
1. Community Living
2. 4-H Club
3. Girl Guides
Schools & Churches:
1. Central Senior Public School
2. Jack Callaghan Public School
3. Queen Victoria
The Best Overall Theme went to the Lindsay & District Horticultural Society, with their float portraying “A Super Hero Christmas”, where Christmas trees were beautifully decorated with detailed hand made ornaments of Super Hero logos and symbols. This float truly embraced the theme of a Super Hero Christmas!
The Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all of the sponsors, volunteers and participants that put time and effort into this year’s parade making the 2014 Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce Santa Claus Parade one of the most fun parades in years.
